Matteo Iachino: celebrating victory at Ulsan | Photo: Carter/PWA

They’re teammates, and they’ve conquered Ulsan. Both Matteo Iachino and Lena Erdil ride for Starboard and Point-7, and they’ve celebrated an epic victory in Asia, despite the seaweed and the shifty wind conditions.

“I feel good. I am really happy. It was a hard day because we were three hours in the water waiting for good conditions to come. It was up and down, full of stuff in the water, and it was not easy to hold the pressure,” revealed Matteo Iachino.

“I managed not to go early in the quarterfinal, in the semi I was first, but the wind dropped, and we couldn’t finish it. I am really happy. In the beginning, it is the best I could have had.”

Lena Erdil, who finished third overall in 2015, had perfect starts in Ulsan and managed to secure the lead despite the attacks from Sarah-Quita Offringa and Delphine Cousin.

“I feel really lucky because it’s been quite a hard week with not much wind, a lot of seaweed. Today we were trying hard, but the race was abandoned and I feel really happy,” added Erdil.
