Patrik Pollak is the 2016 Raceboard Masters world champion

The Raceboard windsurfing class is a genuinely competitive division. Despite the light winds in the first four days of competition, sailors were able to complete many races. Pollak was always one of the most dominant forces.

“Fifty-eight of the competing Masters from 12 countries had the chance to race in the place where windsurfing started in USSR more than 40 years ago. It wasn’t easy. The shallow lake provided tough, shifty conditions and, regarding the fact that we are all Masters, the sports level was pretty high,” explained Patrik Pollak.

And the cherry on top of the cake came on the last final day, as 20-knot plus winds invaded the regatta field for a spectacular photo finish.

“It turned out quite a challenge for many of us, more used to the sea breeze. I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere the local club offers, with a lot of social interaction, and giving windsurfers a chance to exchange equipment tuning tips.”

Pollak, from Slovakia, was crowned the 2016 Raceboard Masters world champion. Vita Matise, from Latvia, raised her national flag in home waters in the Women’s division. Juha Blinnikka, Bernd Neumann, and Heiner Homrighausen took out the Grand Masters, Veteran, and Super Veteran titles, respectively.
