Things were getting ugly. Light winds threatened the slalom windsurfing competition, but the final days of the waiting period brought what sailors needed to crown a champion.

Pierre Mortefon was the man of the event. He controlled the races and takes a deserved win in Catalunya. Antoine Albeau was not able to impose his authority and finished in an unusual 17th place.

“Victory! Super happy to be back on top here in Costa Brava after a hard week. I am super stoked to win this event for the first time!” expressed Mortefon, who now leads the overall rankings.

“I spent all week in the lead, in the podium with my friend Tristan Algret and Pascal Toselli but, unfortunately, we didn’t make it. Next time!”

In the end, Andrea Cucchi celebrated a maiden top 3 finish, and Arnon Dagan enjoyed a well-deserved runner-up spot on the podium. The world’s best slalom windsurfers will now travel to Fuerteventura.
