The UK Windsurfing Association (UKWA) announced that Greensdale, one of the fastest speed windsurfers in the British Isles, earned the most votes from the public.
“I am absolutely blown away to have received the news that I have been voted the UKWA Windsurfer of the Year. I would like to congratulate the other nominees in their achievements during 2015, and am sure they will all go onto bigger better achievements in 2016,” expressed Kevin Greenslade.
“I’ve met some awesome people in the 25 years I’ve been competing in this amazing sport. Thanks to my sponsors Gaastra/Tabou, F-hot fins and OTC for making it possible for me to compete from year to year. I would also like to thank my family, friends and girlfriend for all the support through the year.”
The winner of the UKWA Windsurfer of the Year award is, for the third time in four years, a speed sailor. Greenslade managed to overcome Adam Simms, Louis Morris, Robbie Swift, and Ross Williams in the decisive round of voting.
“Well done to all the nominees, who are all champions in their own right. Especially Kevin, who deserves this award not only for holding the UKWA speed trophy for five years but because he is also a great ambassador for windsurfing in general,” added Bob Ingram, chairman at the UKWA.
Greensdale, an amateur windsurfer and aircraft industry professional, is a five-time UK speed windsurfing champion, and multiple-time winner of the Weymouth Speed Week.
