It was a tight battle. After picking eight finalists, the EFPT handed the verdict to the fans. In the decisive week, Amado Vrieswijk, Sarah-Quita Offringa, and Bosson took the lead, but a last-minute heroics delivered the trophy to the Frenchman.
“I was actually really surprised that so many people – followers, sponsors, friends, family – supported me like this for the EFPT Sailor of Year. It was crazy. So, yes, in the end, it feels really good,” expressed Adrien Bosson.
The French freestyler will participate in the indoor windsurfing competition set for Paris, and is training for the 2016 PWA World Tour season. His home spot is Le Brusc, at Six Fours Les Plages.
Riccardo Marca won the EFPT’s “Rookie of the Year 2015” award. Despite missing two of the five-yearly events, the Italian windsurfer concluded the season in the 12th position.
“I’m really happy about my first year in the EFPT. I couldn’t follow the whole Tour because I finished my studies and I’ve been busy with exams. I managed to go to Croatia, where I’ve got a tie 1st place, then to Brouwersdam and France, where I had my best result so far in the European tour finishing with a 9th place,” explained Marca.
“My dream is to become a professional windsurfer. I still have to work a lot for this, but one of the biggest inspirations I have is Steven Van Broeckhoven because of his professionalism. He’s one of the only real athletes in freestyle windsurfing, and I really admire him for this.”
