The event attracted 335 young windsurfers from 25 nations competing in four youth and junior divisions: Under 17 Boys and Girls, and Under 15 Boys and Girls.

The gold fleets decided the podium finishers in 12 races. One of the most exciting moments took place in the dying seconds of the decisive Under 17 Girls race when Giorgia Speciale managed to cross the finish line slightly ahead of her direct opponent Shira Benbenisti.

“It was a really hard fight with Shira. She is a fantastic windsurfer. My victory was decided in the final race of the regatta,” said Speciale, who had already won the Under 15 world title in 2013.

“Right from the beginning up to today, I was second. After the first race of today, we were tied with Shira. In the last race of the championship I managed to finish ahead of her, and I won.”

Giorgia celebrated another Italian victory. Edoardo Tanas won the Under 15 Boys division and also raised his national flag up high. In the extremely competitive Under 17 Boys competition, Itai Kafri won the European title with three bullets and two runner-up finishes.
